WHY DID WE START?

The Nellie DeJager Fund was established to meet the physical and spiritual needs of children and families in Hancock and surrounding communities.  The Fund partners with local churches to support outreach programs and community activities.

WHAT DO WE DO?

The Nellie DeJager Fund begins with meeting basic needs of children in Hancock, including food, clothing and shelter.  For example, many children in Hancock depend upon meals at school to get through the day.  They often don't have enough food at home to sustain them outside of school, and this is particularly difficult on weekends and school breaks.

since 2015, the Nellie DeJager Fund met physical and spiritual needs by providing:

  • nutritious weekend meals for 44 children in the Hancock school system during the school year
  • 80 daily meals and t-shirts for children attending the Community Bible School
  • a graduating senior with a $500 service award
  • summer meals and groceries for children and families in need
  • hygiene kits for students without running water or electricity at home

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

  1. PRAY
    1. that the children of Hancock and surrounding communities will become lifelong followers of Jesus
    2. that God will be put at the forefront of all we do
    3. that god will give wisdom and strength to the Nellie DeJager Fund and board members to make good decisions that will best serve the children
  2. SUPPORT A CHILD
    1. We need your help to continue to support our important programs.  In addition, the Fund is hoping to expand into other areas, such as providing clothing and shelter, academic programs, school supplies, after school programs, and scholarship programs
    2. We are asking you to support one child for one school year.  This can be done through a financial donation of $160 to the Fund.  Please select the 'DONATE' page to make a financial donation.  All donations are tax-deductible.
